Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was an Italian polymath of the high Renaissance, born in 1452 in Vinci, Italy and died in 1519 in Ambois, France. Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most influential figures in the history of art and science. Da Vinci's artistic brilliance is evident in masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Beyond his artistic achievements, da Vinci's scientific inquiries were equally remarkable. He conducted extensive studies in anatomy, engineering, and physics, capturing his observations and groundbreaking ideas in his famous notebooks.

What is “Vitruvian Man” about?

The Vitruvian Man is a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci. This annotated drawing represents the perfect proportions of the human body. It depicts a naked male figure in two positions, with his outstretched limbs fitting perfectly within both a circle and a square. The drawing was created in 1487 and is now owned by the ‘Gallerie dell’Accademia’ in Venice, Italy.
